Goliath, my chary dog sat by a woodshed
Whose hairs it sloughs off in unruly knead
Selfsame to a cat at a distance heed
Neighbors who saw him commonly said
To get his bite heaven forbid!
Not only does it make them afraid
To find the whelp a pure shih-tzu breed
One day my irksome chum named David
A pampered kid, he brags he never heard
Pulled Goliath's tail while patting his head
Sure is, a stranger's touch the pup dreads
Bit David's hand till it bleeds
An instant his fate almost sealed
Bad news too, the mongrel's two chows unfed
Thanking bliss, I thought he's dead
Too late to warn the brat of what he did
A lesson then for a stupid act made
Not too serious though but he's still in bed
The tyke's with clean saliva and not rabid
Goodness, a dear price I almost paid!
Now I keep Goliath in a shade, chained.
